Rebound in black leather with five raised bands, gilded lettering and ornamentation to spine, and gilded page edges. Original leather "Lone Star State" front and back panels attached. Covers show a number of scuffs, gouges, and smudges, along with signs of shelfwear, but are sturdy and square overall and are now protected in a removable mylar jacket. Border repairs/reinforcement to initial and final pages, which are chipped around the edges. Some scuffs and soiling to endpapers. Pencil erasures to flyleaf, with large contemporary signature and date by previous owner on following blank page. First two pages of text bound in upside down. Following this, pages are clean, crisp, and unmarked, with just some light toning. Binding is holding soundly. Not a facsimile or ex-library copy.
